Shicheng Zhou, confirmed that what lies behind eve echoes isk is far more than just another mobile link in with a fresh skin. "We learned a lot from CCP games. The staff in CCP shared a great deal of information, even sharing info on the server side of EVE Online. This allowed us to take ideas and optimize the design of EVE Echoes for the mobile platform. There are similarities in the way that the 2 games encourage players outside in space but cellular also comes with its own challenges."
Zhou possibly even underplays the challenge that NetEase and CCP took on with this mobile port. Until now, getting games such as Old School Runescape onto a mobile platform was considered something of a technical marvel. The cellular space comes with a massive assortment of hardware, users that are on the move, connections that might only drop off without warning, along with many other constraints that CCP hasn't had to overcome in their time. Still, the team believe they've got this covered.
"There are so many challenges to bring that massive combat in the PC to cellular but we hope we can reach the same technical peaks that EVE Online already has achieved"The on-the-go server changes aren't the only thing that EVE Echoes has changed up for gamers coming to New Eden on a small display. The team in Netease has invested a significant amount of time modifying the in game UI, streamlining it and making sure new players may get to grip with their ships with no requirement for a mouse at sight.
That actually isn't the adjustments that I got excited about, however. Players who watched that a current EVE Echoes Stream will have captured a glimpse of the Yan Jung, an old race that is coming back into EVE Echoes. Returning to fresh Eden this race is, as Wei Su described, "The Yang Jung is one of those ancient factions of this forgotten age of New Eden. The facts in EVE Online don't actually tell us a lot about the Yan Jung but it is an opportunity to ring something fresh and add even more diversity into the EVE experience. A number of our staff are Asian and they love the idea of integrating oriental culture to the game. It is going to hopefully help to help expand the reach of EVE Online in several ways and bring it to a larger population."
The return of this Yan Jung makes a bold statement that this isn't only EVE for old school gamers. NetEase and CCP talked repeatedly of brining the core EVE experience to cellular but have definitely made some modifications to the way the game plays out. While Wei Su verified that players may play"however they need" construction companies or heading out to mine the edges of space, EVE Echoes gets a few nice additions, which doesn't just mean extra skins and cool looking new boats.
One of the big exclusive additions to EVE Echoes you won't discover in EVE Online is Outposts. Outposts are a space structure that individual players may use in adverse locations like low sec and null sec for a staging ground and safe harbor. Wei Su also verified that buy eve isk the Outposts will include more than only a docking bay.
